Ibiza

Ibiza is located in the Mediterranean Sea, to the east of the Spanish Peninsula, and is one of the Balearic Islands. Ibiza, which covers 572 km2, is a whole world in miniature and stretches from the coast inland. Ibiza -with its smooth relief- along with Formentera, make up the so-called Pitiusas islands. The Greeks referred to them as the islands of the pines, Ibiza itself being the larger of the two.

The capital is located in the Municipality of Eivissa. Its fortification, declared a World Heritage Site, is full of narrow streets and monuments such as the Castle and the Cathedral.

Throughout the 18 kilometres of natural sandy beaches, fringed by crystal clear waters, Ibiza offers a huge range of possibilities to cater for all types of preferences. On the majority of our beaches, there is the chance to do all kinds of water and outdoor sports. One of the joys of being on this island is that no matter where you are,you are never really too far away from one of the many wonderful beaches or secluded little coves.  Ibiza is definitely all about beaches and laying all day in the sun. The combination of soft, golden sand and warm, crystal clear waters are just too hard to resist, even to a hard-core urbanite!

For those who enjoy hill walking or rambling, the Ibicencan coast is a paradisiacal place to spend time. Many of these beaches are not only of great natural beauty but also have a historical worth in that there are many remains of past civilisations, old defence towers and other signs of Ibicencan history that are of great interest.

Ibiza enjoys a tremendous variety of excellent restaurants, many are known for their traditional Mediterranean style cuisine that is old Ibiza....fresh fish and shellfish...as well as mouth watering grilled sausages 'Butifarra' and Paellas. Wonderful food in an historical atmosphere and jaw-dropping street scenes.
There are many choices in Ibiza when it comes to eating at a restaurant. You can enjoy one of the many beach bars for lunch, or go to a first class restaurants in the evening. The choices are endless.
You will not find anywhere that has restaurants quite like Ibiza. The food is top-class and the settings are spectacular. Where else can you have lunch on the beach in a typical Spanish Chiringuito and then later dine in style and sophistication in one of the hill top restaurants, overlooking the twinkling lights below.
You can dine in old candle-lit country farmhouses…relax over tapas in one of the many charming country villages…eat on the beach in shade of the searing sun…sit out on the terrace watching the small boats arriving at the jetty with todays fresh catch; never far away is the aroma of fresh fish being cooked on an open grill.
Typical Ibicenco dishes include: all types of fish, rabbit, lamb, chicken etc.. Stews are very popular, especially during the winter months.

There are uncountable numbers of bars in Ibiza so you'll never be stuck for a place to drink.
It's the undisputed dance Mecca of Europe, Ibiza boasts some of the biggest and best night clubs in the world attracting the rich and famous, the young and trendy, the beautiful and the bizzare plus there’s many a place to pass the time if you don’t feel like getting involved in the major clubs scene every night.
There are two main hot spots to head for - Ibiza town on the east coast and the decidedly British orientated club capital of San Antonio on the west coast.
